McAdventures & Friends is a community of BBQ creators, cooks, and local legends from the Moreton Bay and Brisbane region + beyond. Together we share practical charcoal cooking, live fire techniques, and real‑world backyard BBQ experience across events, social media, and weekend cooks.
I’m Lachlan, the creator of McAdventures. I’m a dad, a long-time Moreton Bay local, and someone who developed a strong interest in charcoal and live fire cooking through simple backyard experimentation. What started as a personal hobby has grown into a platform where I share practical BBQ techniques, outdoor cooking ideas, and real-world experience with a wider community.
My intention is pretty simple, it's not hard cooking with charcoal and i want everyone to give it a crack. Hit up Facebook Marketplace, find your first second hand charcoal bbq and get started!
If you’re new here, you can explore my latest cooks and guides on my Socials at @my_mcadventures.
A big part of what I do involves cooking and creating content with a close group of friends who share the same passion for BBQ, food, and the local Brisbane community. You’ll often see them in my videos, event cooks, and weekend sessions.
These include The Meat Men AKA:
There are also others such as:
Mitch from The Australian Brisket Board
Lemeet from Australian Buffalo Sauce and more!
Each brings their own style, personality, and approach to BBQ, and together we create a lot of the local content people enjoy following.

My cooking journey began at home with a 47cm weber kettle and a curiosity for what charcoal could do. I had recently won a BBQ class ticket by the Smokin Hot Bros that inspired me to explore this new found interest! I started sharing the process online on Instagram, the learning, the refining, and the everyday cooks that anyone can try. People connected with the honesty and the practical approach, and over time a community formed around accessible BBQ and outdoor cooking.
You can follow the ongoing journey on Instagram and TikTok, where I share new cooks, experiments, and behind-the-scenes content.
My approach to BBQ is straightforward and built for real homes. I focus on:
Reliable charcoal cooking techniques
Simple, accessible ingredients
Flavour first recipes
Clear explanations that build confidence
Making outdoor cooking approachable for all skill levels
I’m not a chef, I’m someone who learns by doing and shares what works in real backyards around Australia and beyond.
If you’re looking for specific techniques or gear recommendations, my Instagram and TikTok are the best spots for now!
As McAdventures has grown, I’ve had the opportunity to cook at a range of BBQ and food events across Australia. These experiences have helped me connect with people, teach hands-on skills, and contribute to the local food community.
Some highlights include:
Meatstock Toowoomba and Bendigo
Meat Noosa with The Australian Brisket Board Academy
Demonstrations with Australian Steak Co
In‑store BBQ sessions at Barbecues Galore Kawana Waters and JK BBQ & Outdoor
These events allow me to share practical charcoal cooking techniques with people who want to build confidence around the grill. Usually cooking on the Weber kettle or the Steak and Beer Australia barrels
If you’d like to enquire about future demonstrations or collaborations, you can reach me on my Socials or at mymcadventures@gmail.com.au
My social channels document the full journey, from early cooks to ongoing experiments. I share what works, what doesn’t, and why. The goal is always to make BBQ and outdoor cooking easier to understand and more enjoyable for anyone who wants to give it a go.
The community around McAdventures and Australian BBQ in general is something I value. It’s built on shared learning, encouragement, and a genuine interest in good food cooked well.
I’m based in the Moreton Bay region of South-East Queensland. This area has shaped a lot of who I am and how I cook. Being part of the local BBQ and food community is important to me, and I’m proud to represent the region through my work.
I'll soon have a page with my upcoming Local events!
McAdventures continues to grow, but the purpose stays the same:
to help people enjoy charcoal cooking through practical guidance, honest content, and real world results.
Whether it’s a weekend BBQ, a quick midweek meal, or a new technique someone wants to try, I aim to make outdoor cooking something anyone can feel confident doing.
